First Snow of 2010

We woke up to a little dusting of snow here in the nation's capital. Just enough to make everything look pretty but not enough to stick on the roads. This is the third time it's snowed this winter - love it!

Cheddar Cheese and Crackers

Yesterday, before and after a very unpleasant visit to the dentist, I worked on this quilt-a-long doll quilt posted by Lori of Humble Quilts. The blocks are 4 1/2" and the quilt is one of those where all the blocks have to be planned out ahead of time - not my usual style. Of course, I love the Civil War color scheme. I wonder what will come next?

Lazy Sunday

This is the last day of a very long and fun-filled winter break. Tomorrow it's back to school and the good old routine. Today will be spent watching football, doing laundry, and cooking a delicious dinner for the family.

Snow in Central Park

December in New York City. A pre-Christmas snowstorm added a touch of magic to our visit. Our morning train was cancelled so we found ourselves with a free day. We took the subway to Central Park where we walked in a winter wonderland.

Cutting Home of the Brave Blocks

I have gotten involved through my quilt guild with making quilts for the Home of the Brave project whereby quilts are given to family members of those military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The fabrics are all Civil War reproduction.

Changing Leaves and Nine Patch

It has been rainy this fall in the nation's capital. The ivy on my fence is changing color but the maple tree is just starting to turn. The nine-patch quilt uses fabric from Fig Tree Quilts.
